You have super powers now. Well not now, but in a bit. Are you sure you don’t want to rob banks though? I know the stigma engrained into you is to fight on the side of what is right, uphold the law and protect the innocent and powerless. But come on it always seems like more effort and work and doing whatever you want sounds just a bit more freeing and fun. You can live a life above the law as you will soon be a superior being? Well whatever… you made your choice already, so I just have to sit here and tell you what happens next.
Before you go flying out into the world remember; you have 10 hours before your powers manifest themselves. I’d say that’s a perfect amount of time to make a costume no? So go on get to it. I’m not going to tell you what it looks like, so you’re going to have to decide use your imagination. And super heroes normally get their names from the newspaper after they fight crime. So look, I just cleared myself of the creative responsibility of 2 things. Now it’s on you.
10 hours later you have a costume and feel your powers manifesting. Your body is surging with new abilities and strength… so it’s time to get to work.
Your career as a super powered hero starts small. There is a group of terrorist (or freedom fighters depending on what side you follow) holding a mall hostage. They threaten to… ahh what does it matter explaining their actions. You just swoop in there and in seconds have all of them restrained and arrested. The police thank you, the people praise you and it kind of just goes on like that.
You set the tone for the vile and the wicked that crime won’t pay and you will be there to stop people from breaking the law and hurting others. Within weeks the crime rate drops, property values rise and the state of overall safety and joy is at an all time high. The evil fear you and the good respect you. The people feel empowered from your actions to fight alongside you in your battles, but that turns out to be not so good. I guess your moral code didn’t follow suit cause when the people begin their battle against crime they end up harming themselves as the people they fight as they don’t have super powers. The city erupts into a civil war of the vile defending themselves from the self proclaimed defenders of justice. They all look to you to join their side, but it’s quite a predicament to pick a side.
You take action where you can, but the violence only rages out further after your interference. Both sides resent you for not aiding them and the city turns against you for not being the protector they desire. Torn by your sense of justice and doing the right thing you give yourself up to them as they unite to take you down. Both sides now screaming for your head in an unfair trail you are exiled by the people who once looked up to you. Also to make things worse turns out the super powers you got mutated your cells into a cancer… so that’s also slowly killing you. But no one really cares, they just want you out of town.
Told you being the good guy wasn’t always easy… helps to prove that as the writer though.
The End
